International audience engages with CoveritLive for Super Bowl Second Screen

Super Bowl XLVIII attracted television viewers and second screen viewers across the globe. CoveritLive Weekly: Top five Social TV events (April 1-7)

This week’s edition of the CoveritLive weekly Social TV rankings is blanketed from top to bottom with a sampling of sporting events from around the United States, Canada and France. The National Hockey League’s trading deadline proved to be the hottest topic of the week, while the WWE’s Wrestlemania and Champions League soccer joined hockey, which owned three of the top five spots.

CoveritLive Weekly: Top five social TV events (June 18-24)

For the second consecutive week, German publisher, Bild dominated the weekly CoveritLive Social TV rankings with its coverage of Euro 2012. The Euros have stood tall throughout the month of June in the rankings with Bild earning the top spot in each of the last three weeks and sweeping each of the top six spots for two-straight weeks. 

Bild has attracted more than six million viewers to its 12 daily chats in the last two weeks, including more than 2.5 million viewers to this week’s chats. An average of 504,000 viewers per-event have joined the chats over the two-week span.
 
The German publisher’s top chat of the week was its Group B coverage that drew an audience of 630,000 for the championships’ third day that saw Portugal knock off Netherlands and Germany oust Denmark. Its live chat for Group D’s England vs. Ukraine match and Sweden vs. France also topped the half-million mark.
 
European football was not the only solid performer of the week as TSN, Canada’s leading English language sports channel, drew almost 50,000 viewers to its live blog coverage of the 2012 NHL Draft.
 
 
Finnish publisher, the Sanoma News, came close to the 50,000 viewer mark as well for its F1 racing coverage of the European Grand Prix in Valencia that saw Spain’s Fernando Alonso claim victory. The largest domestic Social TV event of the week was ESPN’s Daily Dime live chat for game five of the NBA Finals that drew an audience of almost 30,000 viewers.
