By Spencer Kitley

After a month of June that saw the Euro 2012 Championship, control the weekly CoveritLive Social TV rankings, the torch was passed this week as three major sporting events claimed the top five spots in the ratings. The highly-anticipated UFC 148 pay-per-view event claimed the top two spots this week, while Formula One racing and tennis at Wimbledon captured the remaining positions.

ESPN landed the top spot in this week’s rankings with its coverage of the mixed martial arts UFC 148 pay-per-view that featured a six-match card, including the middleweight championship bout between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. Almost 115,000 viewers tuned into the live chat for the undercard matches and to see Silva successfully defend his title.

Finland’s Sanoma News nabbed the No. 3 position for its live coverage of the 2012 British Grand Prix Formula One race at England’s Sliverstone Circuit. More than 35,000 viewers joined the conversation during the race as Australia’s Mark Webber clinched the win, his second of the 2012 Formula One season.

Sports Illustrated notched the final two spots in the CiL weekly rankings with its coverage of semifinal and final tennis action at Wimbledon. In excess of 31,000 viewers were entertained by SI’s coverage of both, the Andy Murray/Jo-Wilfried Tsonga semifinal and the final between eventual champion Roger Federer and Murray.
