Channel 4, a British public-service television broadcaster utilized CoveritLive in a unique fashion as it directly incorporated a live Social Stream into its ‘What the 4? interactive studio experience. Real-time Twitter content was delivered live to the expert team of Paul Mason, Marta Mulyak, Kate Malby and Alexander Nekrassov in the studio for their ‘#WT4 happens next in Ukraine?’ interactive show.
As the team discussed the changing political geography in Europe Tweets were delivered to the Social Stream through the EventStudio’s robust Twitter filtering tools with the hashtag #WT4 and that content streamed through the CoveritLive experience on their in-studio monitor. This provided viewers a platform with direct access to submit their questions or comments about the ongoing situation in Ukraine. This also allowed the studio panelists easy access to answer questions from the in-studio monitor in real-time.
Additionally, viewers were able to view that same conversation that the studio team was viewing via an embedded CoveritLive Social Stream that was placed on the page just below the live streaming video player.
Channel 4 also allowed viewers to submit comments during the live show via the CoveritLive chat experience in an effort to fully maximize the interactivity of the event. The Channel 4 team took advantage of the CiL Pinning functionality as well to pin important Tweets, comments or questions to the top of the experience for persistent display.
