CoveritLive Weekly: Top Social TV events from Obama’s Sweden visit (Aug. 2-8, 2013)

By Spencer Kitley

This week we bring you a special edition of the CoveritLive weekly Social TV rankings that is a bit of a departure from previous editions. Last week, interested readers from all around the world took notice of the events in Syria and many Swedish readers joined CiL events as United States President Barack Obama visited Sweden to discuss the Syria situation and other issues.

Swedish publisher Aftonbladet provided blanket coverage of Obama’s visit with Prime Minister Reinfeldt in advance of the G-20 Summit in St. Petersburg. Its excellent dashboard experience featured three CoveritLive events during the televised joint press conference. The news organization hosted two events that attracted in excess of 250,000 readers and another event that engaged with more than 500,000 readers.

Fellow Swedish publisher, Expressen got in on the act as well, utilizing CoveritLive’s superb tools for live engagement as almost 82,000 viewers joined their interactive chat during Obama’s visit.

*The CoveritLive blog releases its weekly social TV rankings every Monday. The data for the ranking system is exclusive to events that are tied to a television broadcast and the viewer metric is defined as a reader that actively clicks into a CiL event.
