CoveritLive Weekly: Top five social TV events (Sept. 24-30)

With the NFL completing its fourth week of action and the Ryder Cup taking center stage there was room for little else on this week’s edition of the CoveritLive Social TV rankings. The NFL’s Thursday Night Football once again captured the top spot, marking its third-straight week atop the rankings, while the most controversial NFL game of the year also landed on the list that included three Ryder Cup live events.’s live coverage of Thursday Night Football has proved quite popular in its first three weeks, attracting almost 350,000 viewers during that span. The latest chart topper drew an audience of almost 83,000 for the Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens divisional showdown.

The second event on the weekly chart was ESPN’s Social TV event for the highly-controversial Monday Night Football matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers. Controversy is always sure to spark conversations and this game was no exception as more than 75,000 viewers clicked into the event for expert commentary and to share their own opinions.

The Worldwide Leader in Sports claimed the third and fourth positions as well for its live chats of the second and third rounds of the Ryder Cup. An audience of almost 73,000 joined ESPN’s live chat on the tourney’s third day, while more than 53,000 got social on day two.

The fifth and final spot in the weekly CiL rankings was nabbed by Sports Illustrated’s, which entertained almost 53,000 viewers with its Social TV coverage of the opening round of Ryder Cup action.
