By Spencer Kitley

After a few weeks off, the weekly CoveritLive Social TV rankings are back with five second screen experiences from last week that include a trio of NFL football events. This week’s events also include Champions League football and live coverage of Nelson Mandela’s funeral.

The NFL’s live CoveritLive social stream that is featured on its Thursday Night Football dashboard continues to highlight the CiL top five as it has for the entire football season. An audience in excess of 300,000 viewers topped the weekly charts as the Denver Broncos clashed with the San Diego Chargers last Thursday night.

German publisher, captured the No. 2 spot with its live coverage of the Nelson Mandela funeral. More than 142,000 viewers joined the conversation as the world bid farewell to South Africa’s influential leader.

Ilsussidiario’s live event coverage of the Champions League showdown between Galatasaray and Juventus ranked third for the week. More than 30,000 viewers got social during the match as Galatasaray notched a 1-0 victory.

The NFL also claimed the final two spots in the rankings among CiL’s Social TV experiences as the Chicago Bears’ live blogs from their Monday Night game with the Dallas Cowboys and their Sunday matchup with the Cleveland Browns ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. The two events totaled more than 52,000 viewers during the week’s two games.

*The CoveritLive blog releases its weekly social TV rankings every Monday. The data for the ranking system is exclusive to events that are tied to a television broadcast and the viewer metric is defined as a reader that actively clicks into a CiL event.
