CoveritLive Weekly: Top five Social TV events (Aug. 5-11, 2013)

A variety of sporting events, including the start of the Bundesliga football season and the PGA Championship, filled out the weekly CoveritLive Social TV rankings.’s immersive football experience, the Australian Football League’s live game coverage, NFL preseason action and Sports Illustrated Golf’s PGA Championship blog comprised the top five this week.’s new interactive Bundesliga dashboard experience provided the perfect second screen compliment to the opening weekend action of the Bundesliga schedule. An audience in excess of 2.5 million viewers got social during Saturday’s slate of matches.

The Australian Football League’s landed in the top five for the 10th time in the last 11 weeks with its Live Saturday and Sunday football coverage that captured the second and third spots in the ratings, respectively. The league’s Saturday coverage last week attracted almost 103,000 viewers, while its Sunday coverage hosted an audience of more than 61,000 viewers.

Sports Illustrated’s claimed the No. 4 position in the weekly rankings with its first round coverage of the 2013 PGA Championship. The live blog of the tourney’s first day attracted an audience of almost 40,000 viewers.

The Chicago Bears nabbed the fifth and final spot for its live event during its NFL preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. More than 33,000 viewers joined the discussion as the Panthers topped the Bears, 24-17 in the preseason opener.
