The 2013 NFL Draft headlined the weekly top-five claiming three spots, including the top two positions, while a tornado outbreak in the United States and a trial in Norway also captured viewer’s attention.

More than 40 major sports and news sites utilize CoveritLive for NFL Draft

Thursday night marked the unofficial start to the 2013 NFL football season as teams began building for their future at the NFL Draft. Fans around the world turned their eyes to their televisions for draft coverage and utilized CoveritLive for a second screen experience provided by any one of more than 40 major sports and news web sites covering the draft.

The three days of the NFL draft saw almost 11 million Social TV viewers visit NFL Draft experiences that featured CoveritLive embeds, while more than one million viewers actively participated in CiL draft events. Viewers that participated in the draft’s top-five live events engaged with the event an average of 31 minutes per-visit.

CoveritLive Weekly: Top five Social TV events (April 8-14)

A quintet of international events captured all five spots this week in the CoveritLive weekly Social TV rankings. Champions League football, the Champions League and Europa League Draw, the final round of the Masters, F1 racing and televised speech filled out the ratings for the week.

The largest event of the week was a runaway winner as German publisher, Bild informed and entertained almost 600,000 viewers with its live updates during the Champions and Europa League draws. Champions League football action also landed in the No. 2 spot with French broadcaster, France24’s live chat during the Barcelona vs. Paris Saint-Germain match. An audience of more than 90,000 viewers got social during the match that saw Barcelona hold on for a 1-1 draw in their second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

CoveritLive Weekly: Top five Social TV events (April 1-7)

This week’s edition of the CoveritLive weekly Social TV rankings is blanketed from top to bottom with a sampling of sporting events from around the United States, Canada and France. The National Hockey League’s trading deadline proved to be the hottest topic of the week, while the WWE’s Wrestlemania and Champions League soccer joined hockey, which owned three of the top five spots.

Feature Blog – Live-blogging: A way to engage students, readers

A recent case study conducted for the College Media Review journal, explored Tarleton State University’s student journalist’s experiences and successes using CoveritLive for live event coverage. The study’s authors, Sarah Maben and Dan Malone are both assistant professors in the Department of Communication Studies at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas review the students’ practices and offer tips for live blogging in the College Media Review which is the Flagship Journal of College Media Association, Inc.

The sixth-month journey to the baseball postseason is a long arduous trail, not only for the teams and fans, but also for the journalists and broadcasters covering the teams for the 162-game schedule. CoveritLive’s well-established tool set has always been the premier way to provide live real-time game coverage to baseball fans around the world, but the newest updates to CiL’s robust features make it easier than ever to engage with readers or viewers throughout the long season.
